Democratic Representative Bill Keating of Massachusetts suddenly interrupted a House session Tuesday after he addressed Republican Representative Keith Self of Texas for referring to Democratic Representative Sarah McBride of Delaware as “Mister McBride.”
The conversation swiftly turned into a furious argument and was caught on camera, which is now making the rounds on X.
In 2024, McBride, who identifies as female but is biologically male, became the first transgender member of Congress.
When Self called McBride “Mister McBride” during the hearing, McBride responded by calling him “Madam Chair”.
