Randi Weingarten, the president of the teachers’ union, has strongly opposed President Donald Trump’s proposal to abolish the Department of Education (DOE), arguing that it would divert funds to tax credits for families who already send their kids to private schools and school choice programs.
The comments were made by Weingarten in an interview with host Molly Jong-Fast on Fast Politics.
Trump’s proposed budget changes were the main topic of discussion, especially his proposal to close the DOE and reallocate its about $100 billion in government money.
