Canadian officials, including Ontario Premier Doug Ford, are rushing to make amends after seeking to use retaliatory tariffs to challenge President Trump’s firm stance.
Citing national security concerns and the need to preserve American jobs, the White House slapped a fresh round of tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum earlier this month. Canada attempted to show off its power by enacting $21 billion in retaliatory taxes on imports from the United States.
