Throughout the year, we honor many organizations and causes, but our veterans are one that is frequently disregarded for prolonged appreciation. Should we commemorate them for a whole month before other causes, such as Pride Month, considering all they have sacrificed?
The Reasons Veterans Should Get More
For our freedoms, millions of people have risked their lives while serving in the U.S. military. Many return home with issues of reintegrating into society, homelessness, and PTSD. Even if there are Memorial Day and Veterans Day, a dedicated month would raise awareness of and support for their struggles.
Acknowledging Every Contribution
Pride Month honors the vital cause of the LGBTQ+ community’s struggle for equality. However, respecting one group shouldn’t come at the expense of another. America has space to meaningfully honor its marginalized groups and its veterans.
