In a letter acquired by the Daily Caller News Foundation, Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey is urging the Department of Justice (DOJ) to look into whether former President Joe Biden’s aides exploited his cognitive deterioration to promote far-left ideas. Bailey claimed that Biden’s executive acts, such as last-minute clemency grants for violent offenders and sentence commutations for death row convicts, are “legally void” if Biden did not knowingly approve them in a letter to DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz on Tuesday.
“Biden’s mental decline is well-known by now,” Bailey wrote. His incapacity to make choices should have resulted in a succession of power under the 25th Amendment. Rather, it seems that Biden administration officials and staff may have taken advantage of Biden’s incompetence to provide commands without the approval of a responsible and sane president. Bailey pointed out that there are “strong grounds to believe that Biden’s political supporters and staff took advantage of his mental illness,” which was apparent prior to his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential contest.
Biden was described as “an elderly man with a poor memory” in Special Counsel Robert Hur’s report on his handling of sensitive documents. In a January interview with The Free Press, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson disclosed that when Johnson asked Biden about the decision, he was not aware that he had agreed to a halt on energy exports to Europe. The Wall Street Journal reported in December that as Biden’s cognitive decline became more obvious, his aides took up some of his duties and carefully regulated his schedule. In order to ascertain which of Biden’s alleged commands were intentionally given by a competent President and which were not, I kindly request that you either begin an investigation or send my request to another investigative body,” Bailey wrote. Joe Biden pardoned his son, Hunter Biden, and a number of family members during his last days in office. Trump also granted preemptive pardons to members of the Jan. 6 committee, Gen. Mark Milley, and Dr. Anthony Fauci in the hours leading up to his inauguration.
Two men whose actions resulted in the death of a police officer and another who killed an eight-year-old boy and his mother were among the 2,500 people whose sentences Biden commuted, citing them as “non-violent” drug offenders. When Biden granted clemency to some of these deadly felons, he disregarded the advice of his own Justice Department, according to an internal DOJ correspondence that was published by the Wall Street Journal in February.
Biden claimed on his way out that the Equal Rights Amendment is a part of the Constitution, despite the National Archives’ unmistakable evidence to the contrary. “For the past few years, who has been in charge of the nation?” Bailey penned. “I worry that Mr. Biden served as a puppet for far-left, unelected staffers while he was president, and that he just held the position in name. The public has a right to know the truth.
