Flights carrying undocumented immigrants to Guantanamo Bay for repatriation have begun, according to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. She emphasized President Trump’s determination to deport violent undocumented people and keep the US from turning into a haven for foreign criminals. Colombia and Venezuela have both stated that they are open to working together on these repatriation projects.
The administration will hold Democratic governors responsible for any violations of federal immigration rules, Leavitt added in response to New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy’s recent remarks about making accommodations for an unauthorized immigrant.
In a another briefing, Leavitt attacked the media for making fun of Trump in 2020 when he said that COVID-19 might have come from a Wuhan lab. She pointed out that further intelligence supported his claim, but the Biden administration did not promptly disclose this information.
Trump’s incoming CIA director, John Ratcliffe, expressed similar worries, saying the agency had failed to consider evidence about the origins of COVID-19. Similar to the Manhattan Project’s involvement in the creation of nuclear weapons, he also described intentions to establish a national laboratory focused on developing artificial intelligence research, establishing the US as a leader in cutting-edge technologies.
