Although it only has eight lives after surviving being thrown from a twelve-story balcony, this cat unquestionably demonstrates that cats have nine lives.
A Story of Amazing Survival
Rue, a cat with a feeding line around her neck and small pink casts on her legs, has recovered remarkably. Despite her terrible past, Rue is now attentive, eating on her own, and making good progress, according to staff at Wisconsin’s Home for Life Animal Sanctuary.
The Horrible Incident of the Cat Being Thrown From the Balcony
Rue was flung from a twelfth-story balcony of an apartment building in Minneapolis at the end of June. Witness Stacy Harris saw Rue fall and strike the concrete below. Rue was immediately rescued by Minneapolis Animal Care and Control as a result of the startling incident. Rue had a dental operation to allow her to eat while her jaw healed, and her legs were placed in splints. Many thousand dollars were needed for the extensive medical care, underscoring the difficulties of caring for animals with serious injuries.
Saving Rue
Rue had serious medical needs, so Minneapolis Animal Care and Control reached out to a number of rescues but had trouble finding one that would take her in. Home for Life Animal Sanctuary intervened to rescue Rue’s life just hours before she was set to be put down.
