One of the most wonderful times in a parent’s life is giving birth.
Bringing a living, breathing creature into the world that you have created inside of yourself is an experience that cannot be compared. Naturally, giving birth to the future generation is a task that all animals must perform in one form or another; it is not just a human responsibility.
The various ways that evolution has evolved for our animal companions to give birth to children are numerous. For instance, most of us will be familiar with dogs and cats since we have either seen them in person or on television. But it’s a completely other story when it comes to animals like tigers.
Thankfully, a video of a genuinely enormous tiger giving birth to two pups just became viral online. The video became viral on the internet, allowing everyone to witness a stunning scene.
At the Australian zoo where the delivery occurred, zookeepers had been keeping an eye on the mother for a while. A Sumatran tiger named Kaitlyn is shown in the footage giving birth to two male pups.
It goes without saying that in situations such as these, every effort is made to ensure the mother’s survival and to keep an eye out for any issues that may come up throughout the delivery process. The employees of the zoo were closely monitoring this situation to make sure everything went according to plan.
As you can see, the first cub Kaitlyn gives birth to has a thin film covering its body. In the seconds after giving birth, tiger moms will lick the film off, which is done to facilitate a more seamless departure from the mother’s womb.
Even when Kaitlyn collapsed into her side due to tiredness, her work wasn’t finished yet. She had to give birth to another child, but this one was much simpler.
The second cub was actually breathing fine just moments after being born, and he was even kicking his legs before he was completely out of the womb.
As it turned out, the introduction of two healthy young kittens was a significant milestone in the conservation efforts to protect these tigers.
Kaitlyn and other Sumatran tigers are listed as highly endangered; their numbers are estimated to be between 400 and 600. Although two may not seem like much, it’s two more that will hopefully breed and have offspring of their own.
