None of the previous American presidents have ever accomplished what former President Jimmy Carter did recently. Since he is the first person to turn 100, this milestone happened on his 100th birthday! In celebration, the Fox Theater in Atlanta hosted a concert in his honor. This was on October 1, ten days before his actual birthday.Sadly, Carter was unable to attend this particular occasion. He has been getting hospice care for the past 19 months.
However, the 100-year-old managed to commemorate this significant occasion in his hometown of Plains, Georgia, with the help of friends and family. Carter was wheeled out of hospice care yesterday so that he could spend time with family and friends and witness a military flyover in his honor. Watch the video below to get a peek of this unique occasion.
Jason Carter, the grandson of the former president, says, “Not everyone gets to live to be 100 years old, and when someone does, and they use that time to do so much good for so many people, it’s worth celebrating.”
