While Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are virtually tied in every state except Nevada, the findings of a poll conducted among voters in swing states on the 2024 election were made public by the Wall Street Journal on Friday.
According to the survey, which was issued on Friday morning, Trump now has a commanding lead against Harris in Nevada, with 47 percent of the vote to 42 percent. The contenders are only separated by two points or fewer in the other six states, making the contest effectively a tie. In Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Georgia, Harris leads by one or two points, while Trump leads by one point in Pennsylvania and North Carolina.
For each state, the poll’s margin of error is plus or minus five percentage points. Between September 28 and October 8, 600 registered voters in the swing states were surveyed; in states where third-party candidates will appear on the ballot, the poll included them.
Overall, Trump leads Harris 46 percent to 45 percent of swing-state voters polled. Republicans and Democrats alike said 93 percent of them would back their party’s nominee. The WSJ discovered that independent voters were evenly split, with 40% of them supporting Harris and 39% backing Trump, underscoring the closeness of the contest and its party split.
The Journal poll also asked which candidate was thought to be better suited to take the lead on several subjects.
With regard to the economy, which is the primary issue of the voters polled, Trump beat Harris 50 percent to 40 percent in every state when asked who would be “best able” to handle it. In addition, respondents said they had more faith in Trump on immigration and inflation. Harris, on the other hand, was preferred 51 percent to 35 percent when it came to abortion.
