During an emotional interview on Fox News’ “The Five,” former First Lady Melania Trump defended her husband, former President Donald Trump, against accusations that he is a “threat to democracy.” Melania, who usually stays out of the spotlight, is currently promoting her upcoming memoir. She discussed her book, the election campaign, and more with hosts Greg Gutfeld, Jesse Watters, Jeanine Pirro, Dana Perino, and Harold Ford Jr.
“I think there’s a lot of misinformation about me online,” Melania said when asked why she wrote the book. “I believe it’s time for people to hear my story, my perspective, and the truth.”
Judge Jeanine Pirro commented on the polarized political environment and the harsh criticism of Trump, including claims that he threatens democracy. She mentioned two recent assassination attempts on the former president and asked Melania if she feared for her husband’s safety as the election approached.
Melania answered with concern for her husband and family’s safety, noting that the attacks have been relentless. “Yes, I do. When they call him a threat to democracy, who is really the threat? They are still pursuing legal action against him, trying to remove him from the ballot and silence him,” she said. “It’s a toxic environment, and I’ve always been afraid of what could happen.”
If she becomes First Lady again, Melania plans to focus on helping foster children and other underprivileged kids. “I will share my experiences and what I learned in the last four years. I will also continue my ‘Be Best’ campaign for women and children, as well as my ‘Fostering the Future’ project that I started after leaving the White House,” she shared.
Melania also mentioned that her donation to a foster care program was recently rejected by a university because of her last name. “They had initially agreed to accept my donation, but when they realized it was me, they refused,” she said. “It’s sad because the ones who suffered were the kids. They lost out on a scholarship because of politics.”And the reason it’s so tragic is that—who suffered? These kids came from a foster home. They were not eligible for a scholarship that would be awarded to them. They refused to do business with me due to my political views and connection.
