Steven Smith stays dedicated to Test cricket despite retiring from ODI cricket.

After Australia lost in the Champions Trophy semi-final, Steven Smith announced his retirement from ODI cricket. He will remain available for T20Is and Test matches.

Despite filling in as captain for the Champions Trophy in Pat Cummins’ absence, Smith, 35, told his teammates right away following Tuesday’s defeat to India in Dubai that he had played his final ODI match and will not be joining Australia for the 2027 ODI World Cup.

Smith said in a statement, “I have loved every minute of it and it has been a great ride.” “There have been countless incredible moments and priceless memories. Along with the many amazing teammates that shared the adventure, winning two World Cups was a terrific highlight.
