The majority of children associate bath time with the end of the day, and the more toys in the water, the better.
However, following a terrible accident that put her little son in danger of losing his sight, an Illinois mother is cautioning parents that a seemingly innocuous bath toy can be harmful to children.
Eden Strong saw that her 2-year-old son Baylor’s eye was sore as she was bathing him. She blamed it on getting water in his eye, but Baylor’s eye grew worse after taking a bath.
Cellulitis, a potentially dangerous bacterial skin illness, has afflicted her son. His eye turned from pink to infected in about twelve hours.

In a Facebook post that has now gone viral, she said that “his eye was protruding from his face.” It was quite hazy. He had a severe case of fever.
I prayed that he wouldn’t lose his eye while crying the whole way to a bigger hospital.
The following week was quite awful. He developed acute cellulitis, which finally spread to both eyes and down his face. Thank God, his eyes were eventually restored, despite their warning that he would lose vision in the worst eye.
A squirting bath toy was the source of Baylor’s horrifying eye damage.

“I discovered later that those kinds of toys can simply grow bacteria that you can’t stop because the water is never completely expelled,” she said.
In an attempt to alert other parents, Eden uploaded graphic images of her son’s injuries on Facebook. Since then, 192,000 people have shared the post. Eden was flooded with images of children from other parents who had gone through similar experiences.
Strong expressed her hope that while making bath toys, producers will keep this in mind.
Since then, she has discarded every one of Baylor’s squeezable toys.
“Those toys in particular are adorable, in my opinion. They’re entertaining. They’re simple and inexpensive, but they’re not worth it.
This family had a terrifying experience, and I’m so happy Baylor is okay.
