A courageous firefighter rescues abandoned kittens that were discovered cuddling in hoses.

While saving stray kittens last month, Chris Osterhaus discovered an unexpected surprise amid the regularity of a firefighter’s day. Amid the clanks and clinks of the equipment check, he heard a faint cry that alerted him to a strange source: a fire hose.

An Airy Surprise

Osterhaus continued his investigation and discovered a comfortable heap on top of the hose—not of firefighting supplies, but of four small newborn kittens. On that day, the Myrtle Beach Fire Department was met with a scene as unusual as it was touching.

A Calm Rescue

Each cat was retrieved from its comfy hiding place by the crew. Known for his love of animals, Osterhaus created a makeshift haven for the kittens, making sure they were safe and comfortable.
