The actor who played a terrifying movie star, Charles Cyphers, died at the age of 85.
Chris Roe, the actor’s manager, confirmed that he was gone for a short while.
Charles died on Sunday in Tucson, Arizona.
“Charles was a kind and loving man,” Chris told Variety.
“He had a habit of telling the best stories, which made you happy.” He was a close friend and longtime client who will be much missed.
Charles played the role of Sheriff Leigh Brackett in the Halloween movie from 1978.
In the 1981 and 2021 follow-ups, he played the same part again.
Charles termed his return to perform in the third installment of the series, Halloween Kills, “shocking but wonderful” in an interview at HorrorCon UK in 2022.
“I haven’t received an invitation to star in a movie again in forty years. “Most of the people are dead,” he said.
“I’m happy they were able to save me, so I didn’t die.”
“It felt great to get paid to do it again.” It was nice. Charles said, “I enjoyed it.
Nancy Kyes played Annie Brackett in the original two Halloween movies. She talked about her father on screen.
“I’m heartbroken to hear about Chuck’s death. He was always up for a good joke, a nice remark, or an amazing tale. I had known him for a long time. She said, “It will be greatly missed,” in a statement.
THE FIRST YEARS OF CHARLES
Charles was born in Niagara Falls, New York, on July 28, 1939.
He graduated from California State University, Los Angeles, and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.
Charles obtained a theater arts bachelor’s degree there.
Prior to becoming an actor, he worked as a student at Los Angeles City College.
It didn’t seem like Charles was married and had children.
OTHER PARTS
Charles played many different parts outside of the Halloween movies.
In 1976, his third collaboration with Halloween filmmaker John Carpenter was Assault on Precinct 13. He played police officer Starker once more.
John and Charles also worked together on The Fog (1981).
Additionally, Jamie Lee Curtis appeared in The Fog. In all three of the Halloween movies, she starred with Charles.
In Escape from New York (1981), Charles visits Nancy again.
He has played the lead roles in a number of television shows, such as Seinfeld, JAG, The Betty White Show, The Duke of Hazzard, and Nick Freno: Licensed Teacher.
His last role in 2021 was Halloween Kills.
