Donald Trump’s legal team is fighting back against continuing investigations in New York as he prepares for his second term as president in 2024. In a scathing warning to New York Attorney General Letitia James, Trump’s lawyer Mike Davis referred to her inquiries into Trump’s business activities as a “conspiracy against rights” and threatened to take legal action. Davis’s remarks on pundit Benny Johnson’s show marked a clear increase in the rhetoric between James’s office and Trump’s staff.
“Let me simply tell the Attorney General of New York, Big Tish James, this. You have my challenge: keep up your legal battle against President Trump! Davis stated.
We’re not playing around this time, darling, and we’ll put your big ass in jail for conspiracy against rights. Listen up. I swear to you. The annoyance in Trump’s team is reflected in Davis’s scathing remarks.
Letitia James has been at the forefront of investigations into claims of tax irregularities, overstated assets, and commercial fraud in Trump’s protracted legal issues in New York. These investigations have been continuously rejected by Trump and his supporters as a “witch hunt” intended to harm his reputation and jeopardize his political future. Trump’s supporters contend that the investigations are now a direct assault on his legitimacy as president-elect, given his recent electoral triumph.
Following President-Elect Trump’s historic victory on Tuesday night, New York Attorney General James gave an erratic press conference on Wednesday, seemingly threatening him.
“So here we are. We’ve looked into their systems. Certain possibilities and factual patterns have been identified. We have prepared backup strategies. James, who was clearly disturbed, told reporters, “So we’re ready for whatever the next administration throws at us.”
“As the governor stated, we are prepared to fight any attempts to reduce or stop any funding for the wonderful state of New York. Therefore, we will continue to defend our most vulnerable and disenfranchised members of society and to stand tall in the face of injustice, retaliation, or vengeance, regardless of what has transpired on the national arena. Because leading that battle alongside Kathy Hochul, the governor of our wonderful state, is my sworn duty and responsibility.
She went on, “New York, now is not the time to be afraid; rather, we should be loyal and unwavering, understanding that my team and I, as the Attorney General, are the protectors of the law. And my pals, we’re ready to fight back. Thank you.
James used a highly contentious civil fraud case to fulfill his campaign promise to prosecute and “convict” Trump. Even though the loans on the property were fully repaid with interest, a Democrat judge accused the former president of misrepresenting the value of his Mar-a-Lago residence, leading to an initial $100 million judgment. Legal and real estate specialists have strongly denounced the pointless litigation, which is anticipated to be dismissed upon appeal.
With Trump’s inauguration in January 2025 approaching, Davis’s warning points to a change in strategy on the part of Trump’s legal team, who are refusing to back down from what they perceive to be an abuse of power. Trump’s team seems determined to oppose legal moves they perceive as politically motivated, especially as he prepares to take the oath of office for the second time on January 20.
