Following the multi-company CEO’s interview with former President Donald Trump on his social media site X, liberal millionaire and left-leaning comedian Jon Stewart recently parodied Elon Musk on an episode of “The Daily Show”. Musk would, however, have the last say guiding them over the operation of the X algorithm.
Suggesting Musk was trying to use his authority to shape public opinion, Cuban and Stewart implied he had sinister intentions in acquiring X in late 2022. Nonetheless, Musk, a strong supporter of free speech, has insisted that on his platform he will defend freedom of expression from all angles of view.
Look at Elon, for instance, right? Being among the most powerful persons, Elon is striving to be the most influential man in the world; it seems like a commercial, but practically, Twitter has given him just that. Stewart intervened, “I have to admit, I believe he may be that. Not even consider him attempting to be. He is the most influential when you discuss someone who is managing debate on the most crucial media platform and putting up satellite links for combat zones.
Cuban said, ” Cause Twitter is in virtually every country, right? Twitter then provides him with the means to interact with the prime minister, head of every nation on Earth. And that person, whomever is in charge of that nation, has an interest in what happens on Twitter, and what happens on Twitter, because of the control of the algorithms, being the biggest user, is all depending on Elon Musk. He gets to press as hard as he wants anywhere his thumb wants to travel.
Stewart then asserted that, especially among white Americans, Musk worries about the likelihood of civil war. “I believe he is rather clear that white people are under the gun and that civil war is unavoidable,” he remarked. Cuban followed up with, “Frightening, concerning.
The billionaire then started talking on X’s algorithm. “When you develop an algorithm — I haven’t written a lot, it’s been a while — but when you write one, you get to establish the parameters of what you like to see happen. And he most certainly has done that for his likes. Stewart said, “But isn’s a certain amount of tech bro malpractice, that there is this incredible need in the marketplace of something that is somewhat less biased or toxic?”
Musk responded to the harsh remarks directed against him on X by providing analysis of the actual functioning of the platform. “That was funny 😂 Unlike the other sites; our algorithm is open source! And if you interact and debate “right wing” accounts, which Cuban does a lot, the algorithm will conclude that’s what you want to do and offer you more of it lol.”
Look at Cuban and Stewart below:
Writing, “Mark Cuban and Jon Stewart slam 𝕐 and @elonmusk, accuse Musk of manipulating the algorithm to push his preferred narratives to influence the election,” the popular X account posted on social media. He continued, “Neither one of these individuals has an issue with a whole media industry built to deceive, manufacture hoaxes and flat-out twist information in favor of their preferred candidate. The real problem in today’s political debate and electoral politics is a single platform offering uncensored information from all sides that suddenly has an owner incompatible with the preferred narratives of the left.
