After a protracted fight with leukemia, Hailey Merkt, a former Bachelor student, passed away at the age of 31.
Following her passing, a social media post on her own Instagram profile verified her passing.
The post stated that Hailey had passed away and attached a picture of her.
The note read, “We are deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved Hailey, who fought valiantly for her life.”
“Hailey traveled this path with unfathomable courage, generosity, and selflessness. Every deadline the physicians set for her was met by her courage, tenacity, and will to live. She made the regretless decision to spend her final hours doing what she loved most, surrounded by loved ones.
In the article, Hailey was characterized as “extremely entertaining, never boring, and totally present in the moment.”
The caption read, “Hailey’s beautiful spirit has touched countless lives; she embraced life with an unmatched zest.”
“Hailey will be deeply missed by all who knew her,” the message further stated. We shall never forget her love, humor, and vivacious personality. Although we are saddened by her passing, we find comfort in the knowledge that her spirit will continue to live on in everyone she touched.
“Haley, rest in peace.”
A GoFundMe has been established by Hailey’s grieving family to assist them during this difficult time.
The campaign page has raised over $112,208 Canadian dollars and will remain up until August 10.
In Season 21 of The Bachelor (2017), Hailey made her debut as a contestant for Nick Viall’s affections.
In the second week of the competition, she was eliminated.
Recalling Hailey

Don’t worry about how strong she is, girl. “So much love to all your people,” Danielle Maltby, a participant on the same season of The Bachelor, commented on the post of her passing.
“Oh my god! Hearing this saddens me greatly. I sincerely hoped she would recover quickly. Hailey, you can unwind now. Raven Gates wrote, “You will always be remembered.”
“I consider myself fortunate to have had such wonderful conversations with her and to have known such a lovely, solid soul.” “Haley, I will always remember you,” wrote Ashley Stern.
“My love, I hope you’re in a lovely, serene place.”I’ll cherish every memory, even if I can’t believe I won’t see you again,” Dominique Alexis wrote.
Hailey’s battle
Hailey publicly discussed her fight with leukemia on the internet.
Fans were encouraged when she declared in April that she was “leukemia free.”
However, things took a turn for the worst three months later.
According to a statement on her GoFundMe, “she was told she had nine months to not even think about cancer after the bone marrow transplant had taken, but in reality she had only six weeks before she got the terrible news that leukemia cells were back and moving fast.”
“I don’t care about myself anymore, but I can’t bear to be the source of so much pain for the people I love,” was her initial response.
Hailey shared videos and images of her victories and setbacks during her cancer battle.
In October 2023, she shared a photo of herself grinning during therapy, describing it as a “rare moment.”
Her feed was filled with modeling photographs, selfies, puppy pictures, and sporadic peeks into her everyday life before she shared that.
