Despite the stockbroker’s opinion that the investment was a “bad idea,” Elon Musk suggested that she invest $1,000 in equities and buy shares of a company that he “really believes in.”
Maye Musk, a 74-year-old model and the mother of Elon Musk, a millionaire businessman, recently revealed a motivational story from her life. When Elon was just 14 years old, more than 35 years ago, he showed a strong interest in and understanding of the investing world.
He recommended that his mother invest $1,000 in equities, specifically shares of a business he had a strong belief in. Elon was enthusiastic and confident, but the stockbroker who handled the deal was dubious and wrote the concept off as a “bad investment.”
Elon Musk’s early intuition and conviction in taking measured risks, however, are highlighted in the story. These characteristics would eventually characterize his revolutionary career in technology and innovation.
