It all started with an odd noise emanating from a dumpster, an unexpected location. A passerby couldn’t help but notice the eerie sound of weak, desperate moans coming from inside the metal container. They paused at first, not sure what they were hearing. However, as they paid closer attention, they realized that these were the panicked screams of a living creature in need of assistance, not just random noises. They started a tale of heartache and hope when they decided to do the right thing and promptly called the Tullahoma Animal Shelter for help.

Chris Cabral and David Reed, two animal control officers, were sent to the location right away. Equipped with empathy and tenacity, the two rescuers reached the scene unaware of the devastating scene that lay ahead of them.
Their hearts fell when Reed and Cabral looked into the dumpster. There was a securely wrapped white garbage bag at the very bottom of it. By then, there was an eerie calm in place of the screaming. However, the rescuers were aware that hesitation was not an option. They carefully removed the bag from the dumpster using a net.
