At an event in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, Democratic Representative Maxine Waters of California erupted in anger, yelling her disdain of both President Donald Trump and tech tycoon Elon Musk.
Waters accused Musk of going too far without the approval of voters at a rally of Democratic lawmakers opposing his access to information at the Treasury Department.
“We must inform Elon Musk that your ass was not elected. No one informed you that you could obtain all of our personal data. Waters said, “No one told you that you could be in charge of this country’s payments.”
Although Musk was not elected, Trump, his boss, was, and by a sizable margin over former Vice President Kamala Harris. Additionally, the majority of Cabinet members and key advisors in any administration are appointed by the president rather than elected.
Waters continued by unjustly accusing Musk of monopolizing the income of regular Americans in order to finance SpaceX and his other business ventures.
“You’ve earned enough money from our government on your own, and now you want to take everyone else’s paycheck and ensure that they don’t earn as much as you have.” “Oh,” Waters remarked, “you want to travel to Mars with our money.”
In addition, the millionaire lawmaker bemoaned Trump and other billionaires, saying they were trying to control the nation’s political and economic landscape.
Trump, Elon Musk, and the billionaires have decided to put us all in our place, which is why we are in a crisis as a nation. They will govern this nation. Waters stated, “They will make sure that they take over everything.”
Will we permit them to do that? Will we allow them to continue running this country in a way that will allow them to earn even more money? Every day they do something new, and it is so blatant. They are acting as executives. They do something every day,” she complained.
Observe:
Treasury Department officials stressed their commitment to safeguarding the national payments system and declared on Tuesday that federal expenditure would continue uninterrupted. The announcement was made in reaction to mounting criticism of the choice to allow access to the Treasury system for Musk’s recently established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
