In the 1970s, marrying your high school love was not unusual.
However, if the marriage is not founded on genuine, pure love, being in the spotlight for over fifty years and experiencing losses inside it might destroy it.
Fortunately, despite their nightmares and their happiest times, George Strait and his wife Norma have never ceased loving one another.
Because they live in the same town and are roughly the same age, George and Norma had plenty of opportunities to see each other as kids, but they never really considered a romantic relationship.
After going on a date, the King of Country Music said to Houston radio station 100.3 The Bull that they didn’t see each other again for a while.
He made the decision to try to capture Norma’s heart once more once he realized that he might be losing something significant.
The well-known musician has actually acknowledged that she was the first woman he ever fell in love with.
Before he joined the U.S. Army and was sent to Hawaii, the pair eloped in Mexico in 1971 and were married in a modest church wedding in Pearsall, Texas.
They welcomed their son Bubba into the world nine years after the birth of their daughter Jennifer in October 1972.
Tragically, their cherished daughter died in a terrible vehicle accident just a few months before turning 14.
The family could have been devastated by her death, yet they were so devoted to one another that they found strength and support in one another.
During his undergraduate years, their son pursued a career as a rodeo cowboy and country songwriter.
Throughout their marriage, the pair has experienced heartbreaks and losses, but they have never thought of quitting up.
They have always supported one another.
You know, Norma has been accompanying her husband on his travels ever since she was a stay-at-home mother until their kid went off to college.
“Almost everything we do is done collectively. We continue to like and love one another. Many! In 2012, Strait told PEOPLE.
During their 50th anniversary celebration last year, the country music artist chose to serenade his wife while performing live at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“We love you without conditions.”
As the song goes, “I see it in your eyes, You can feel it from my heart. We knew it from the beginning.”
The man seems to be sincere in all of his statements.
In the video, one audience member can be heard stating, “I’ll cry,” while the crowd continues to clap for him and his wife.
Their commitment to one another and their love for one another are quite heartwarming.
“It’s amazing for a famous person to reach a golden anniversary. That hardly ever occurs,” a commenter wrote beneath the video.
Our passion for this serenade was pure. We have no doubt that you will as well.
