After discovering a young cat in her backyard, a Canadian woman made the decision to take action. This is her tale. Before a small cat appeared in our backyard, it was just another typical day in Victoria, British Columbia. There was something I needed to see, so my husband called me outside. The little kitten was by itself. She ran when I opened the door. We chose to leave out some food because we knew she needed assistance.
Locating the Kitten
After setting out the meal, we waited for her to return. Indeed, she did. Her tiny body was obviously emaciated, and she was afraid. We made the decision to try catching this kitten as we knew she needed a place to stay. In an attempt to entice her inside, we carefully set up a cage with food. We were resolved to help her when she needed it.
Taking Her Inside
We were able to safely trap her and bring her inside with a little perseverance. We gave her room despite her fear and uncertainty. We put her in the restroom so she could feel safe yet still be close to us. She started to trust us gradually. When she recognized that she was no longer alone, her anxiety gave way to curiosity.
We gave her additional space by moving her into our master bedroom as she became more at ease. She grew playful, particularly at night, and her personality began to emerge. We were excited to watch her come out of her shell, even though it meant restless nights. Her curiosity and energy became a part of our everyday life.
