When he was rescued, Figaro, a small kitten with serious facial damage, was leading a difficult existence on the streets of New York City. He was in dire need of medical attention since his injuries were so serious that half of his face was gone. Meagan Licari of Puppy Kitty NYC was devastated when she first met Figaro at the animal hospital. Scared, little, and hardly identifiable. Before Meagan intervened, no one wanted to adopt a cat with such severe injuries.
The Path Back to Recovery

Although the exact cause of Figaro’s injuries is unknown, the veterinarians speculated that he may have been attacked by a larger animal or may have come into touch with a live wire. Figaro courageously had two reconstructive surgeries to aid with his recovery, which included having the majority of his teeth on one side of his mouth extracted. Figaro had a hard beginning, but his tenacity was evident. He changed from a scared kitten to a kind and loving cat while he was in the hospital, gradually coming to trust the staff and Meagan.
Discovering His Permanent Residence

Figaro recovered and flourished after two weeks in Meagan’s foster care and a month in the hospital. His agony was vanished, and he enthusiastically welcomed his new life. Despite some residual concerns about medication and facial washings, Figaro’s fun side came to the fore. He enjoyed cuddling on Meagan’s pillow, watching birds from the ledge, and getting to the food bowl first. Meagan knew she could never let him go as she saw him develop.
