A rarity among cats, from cats to tigers, Frankie, also known as Frankenkitten, was born with four ears. He’s not as large as the latter, but he’s brave enough to stand up to them.
Context
Georgi Anderson, who found the litter, said, “He was found with one living sibling but there may have been more that did not survive.” He was found under a suburban house with his other siblings. Before taking Frankie and his sibling to the shelter for treatment and rehoming, the homeowners kept them for a few weeks to mingle and gain weight.
He has since led a happy and kind life, but it hasn’t been without its challenges. Frankie has suffered with health problems all of his life, which ultimately resulted in the loss of his eye.
A Story of Hope
“He did have two eyes when he arrived at the animal shelter, but one of them had to be removed because it had ruptured. This prevented him from dying from the infection, which would have turned septic.”
The cat suffers from sore joints in addition to vision impairment, which makes it difficult for him to move because his rear limb isn’t straight.
However, this is a story of optimism rather than despair. Frenkie has stayed happy and inquisitive despite all of his hardships; he frequently plays in between his daily naps, but what cat doesn’t? Frenkie seems to be at his happy zone, and he has shown strength and tenacity to get to where he is now.
“I immediately noticed how kind and gentle he was when I went to see him before his treatment. He struggles to consume wet food because he can’t get a solid handle on it, so his mouth is probably the biggest physical component. After a few hours of having him home in recovery, I realized he was unique in a manner I couldn’t exactly explain. He only eats dry food, and instead of using his teeth to pick up kibble, he has learned to use his tongue to get it into his mouth. He has a cheeky demeanor, but he gets away with it since he is also quite sweet. He is very cuddly and kind, and he seems to be able to tell when I’ve had a rough day. He practically has a doglike personality, in my opinion.
