In a murder-suicide that Michigan police are looking into, a six-year-old boy who had gone missing was discovered dead next to his father.
When the boy’s father did not promptly return him to her custody, the child’s mother called the police on Monday, August 19. Following a multi-day search, everyone’s worst suspicions were validated on Wednesday, August 21.
On the evening of August 19, a woman called the Isabella County Sheriff’s Office in Michigan regarding her kid, who was six years old, going missing. That morning, the boy’s father was scheduled to bring him back to her, but he never did.
Deputies went to Michael Steven Winchell’s home and looked for him and his kid, Rowan Milford Morey, while the boy’s mother posted images of her son on Facebook.
For the following 24 hours, police searched, but they were unable to find Winchell or the youngster.
Winchell’s sister was found by detectives, but the 48-year-old father was also unreachable.
On August 21, family members showed up at Winchell’s house to assist with the search. Someone found a solitary camper at the back of the property while searching the grounds.
They discovered Winchell, who seemed to be dead, after breaking one of the camper’s windows. Winchell and Rowan were both dead when police broke into the camper.
Initial reports indicate Winchell shot his son before turning the gun on himself, while the case is still being investigated.
