It is regrettable that many people should not be allowed to own or be near animals.
A few years back, Hayden Howard noticed that her dog wasn’t feeling well.
Jackson, her English Mastiff, had been playing in the backyard while she was inside. When she called him in, he looked like he was covered in bug bites.
But when she looked more closely, she discovered that the truth was worse.
Jackson was actually shot multiple times.
Hayden told WXIN, “I was so shocked that I didn’t know what to think.”
When he realized Jackson had been shot, he hurried him to the veterinary. The veterinarian examined Jackson and found numerous little bullets that had been discharged from a BB pistol.
According to Hayden, “they were everywhere—one in his knee, one in his ear, and one stuck under his eyelid.”
The veterinarian had to shave nearly all of Jackson’s fur to get rid of the many plastic shells. He had to extract a total of 27 bullets, leaving 20 rounds in their original positions.
Twenty more bullet holes were found by the veterinarian throughout Jackson’s small physique.
He had been shot over 70 times.
Assistant Chief Craig Hayes of the Seymour Police Department said, “It’s a very bad case and it’s sad to see. I have never seen an animal shot that many times.”
That someone could do such a terrible thing to a dog, especially when the dog has never hurt anyone, is beyond me.
The guy suspected of being the shooter was believed to be in a nearby yard and was being pursued by police.
They soon learned that a gun and some ammunition were hidden inside a neighbor’s home.
According to the Daily Mail, police found a BB pistol, pellets, and methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in his home.
I sincerely hope the criminal is sentenced to a long prison term and faces the repercussions of their actions.
Sincerely, I believe that after they depart, they should never be permitted to approach an animal again.
Despite his severe damage, Jackson is recovering well, according to Hayden.
Check out this news report about the incident:
BB and pellet guns are real weapons with significant potential for injury, despite the fact that some news outlets commonly call them “toys” or “fake.”
When a crime is committed using a pellet or BB gun, it should be handled as such. It’s a legitimate firearm, and those who use it against defenseless people should be held accountable by the law.
I genuinely hope Jackson gets well soon and can resume playing joyfully in his backyard.
