“I only had a few coins in the car, but this will help me get to the hospital and fill up a gallon,” the appreciative man remarked. “Please tell me how to contact you so I can reimburse you.”
Matthew hurriedly hopped into a car and drove off to assist them in giving birth after Sean gave him his phone number. Two jeeps sounded as Sean awoke the following morning. Several men emerged and handed Sean a note. He was instructed in the letter to be at a specific location on the same day at a specific hour. Sean discovered that Matthew had requested him to go there when he followed instructions and arrived at the correct location. Matthew appeared to be employed for a highly prosperous company. As he entered, Matthew announced that he was the proprietor and that he was looking to launch a new company with someone, with Sean being his top pick.
I doubt I would be able to refuse such an offer. However, wouldn’t having a partner who can provide for you financially be preferable? Sean asked. “You mean money?” Matthew lifted an eyebrow in question. I didn’t get petrol money from the wealthy man in the Lexus until you arrived. However, you gave me your last few dollars that day. That means more to me than all the money in the world. Rather of focusing only on increasing revenue, I want to invest more heart into my firm.
Sean accepted the offer. He helped some of the folks he used to hang out with while living in a tent, and he soon managed to rent an apartment for himself and his children. He even helped several of them land positions at the new company. This man had no idea that a tiny act of kindness would transform his life and have such a profound impact.
