As the world shifts toward digital devices, children are losing the opportunity to learn how to utilize analog clocks. Simply put, the modernization of the world is making it more difficult for children to study analog because they are surrounded by digital information.
Because analog clocks are distracting kids, schools in the United States are replacing them with digital ones, much as instructors in the United Kingdom have previously done. They are finding it difficult to focus on their work because they are wasting too much time calculating how much longer they have till class ends or fretting that they won’t have enough time to complete a test. Many kids are struggling academically as a result of this alone because they are unable to focus on their studies since they are unable to determine how much time they have left to complete homework or tests.
Because they understood how to operate them correctly, children in the past were able to read the analog clocks. Since digital clocks are just more common these days, it is no longer a valuable art. Teaching children to read an analog clock is more difficult these days since they are too accustomed to the digital world. There always appears to be a digital alternative around that will give you a faster response to the question, “What time is it?” even if you have an analog clock.
Unfortunately, younger kids aren’t the only ones who struggle to discern time; high school students’ comprehension of analog clocks has declined with time. Because they can’t tell the time on an analog clock, students are saying that they can’t keep track of how much time they have left on tests or that they are speeding through them to avoid running out of time.
